Four Points by Sheraton hotel planned at Drexel Town Square

Organizations:

A Four Points by Sheraton hotel is planned for the Drexel Town Square development in Oak Creek.

Four Points by Sheraton is a select service hotel brand of Stamford, Conn.-based Starwood Hotels and Resorts. The Drexel Town Square hotel is scheduled to open in September of 2015, according to the Starwood Hotels & Resorts website.

Drexel Town Square is an 85-acre mixed-use development planned southwest of Drexel and Howell avenues at the former Delphi plant site in Oak Creek. Wispark LLC is the leader of a development team for the project, which is an attempt to create a downtown in a community that has never had one. The development will include a Meijer store, several restaurants, a mixed-use Main Street, upscale apartments, a new City Hall and library and a town square.

The hotel, which will be called Four Points by Sheraton Milwaukee Airport, will have 108 rooms and will be four stories tall. It will be located on the east side of the town square in the middle of the Drexel Town Square development, said Oak Creek Mayor Steve Scaffidi. The hotel will have a full-service restaurant on the first floor, likely facing the square, he said.

“It’s going to be a nice anchor on the squaure,” Scaffidi said. “The square is going to be tremendous. It will have a lot of things going on that will appeal to people saying at the hotel like concerts, farmer’s markets and a splash pad for kids. (The hotel) will bring people into that area.”

A 107-room Four Points by Sheraton hotel had been proposed in recent years at the southeast corner of Howell and College avenues in Oak Creek, but that project never moved forward.

The only other Four Points by Sheraton hotel in the state is located along Brown Deer Road in Brown Deer, according to the Starwood website.

Currently, there are 182 Four Points by Sheraton hotel locations, but Starwood plans to expand the brand by 40 percent in the next five years. The 200th location is expected to open early this year.
