The fifth annual “This Is How We Roll Fashion” Show Fundraiser & Community Awareness Event will be held on Sunday, April 29th from 2pm-5pm at The Ingleside Hotel (formerly known as the Country Springs Hotel) in Pewaukee, WI. The event is co-hosted by 2015 Miss Wisconsin Rosalie Smith and Luke Bebeau of the well-known band The Boogie Men. The proceeds benefit the Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation (BRPF).
This year, we are joined by 2018 Ms. Wheelchair America, Sheri Melander-Smith, along with other Titleholders. In total, over 40 models in wheelchairs will take to the catwalk “Rolling the Runway for Research” to benefit the BRPF.
Jenny Addis, a longtime friend of the BRPF, was injured in a car accident in 1997. Since that time, she has committed to raising awareness for individuals suffering from paralysis. It has been Jenny’s dream to organize and run a fashion show completely comprised of models in wheelchairs. That dream is now a reality!
“This is How We Roll” was created to highlight the importance of medical research, wheelchair accessibility and inclusion within the community by breaking down barriers and changing the stereotypes society has about wheelchair users. Models include a diverse group, ranging from teachers, nurses, lawyers, school children, to pageant titleholders.
Over the last four years, our hosts have introduced over 100 remarkable models to the runway. All of the models are in wheelchairs and are “Rolling the Runway for Spinal Cord Research.” With more than 350 people in attendance at these events, the fashion show has raised a remarkable $90,000 for the BRPF.
On April 29th, we roll again! Seating and raffle begin at 2:00 pm with the fashion show to follow from 3:00-5:00 pm.
