Poclain Hydraulics Inc. is planning a $20 million expansion of its North American headquarters in Racine County to accommodate strong growth and the addition of new product lines.

The maker of hydrostatic transmission systems is part of Poclain Hydraulics Group, which is based in France. The North American headquarters are located at 1300 N. Grandview Parkway in the town of Yorkville.

The company plans to break ground at the end of the month on a 60,000-square-foot expansion of its 105,500-square-foot facility. Investments in new manufacturing equipment will bring the project to $20 million. It is expected to be complete by late 2018.

“The need for this addition is due to the strong growth of Poclain in North America and the expansion of our current product lines. It positions us to respond to future growth and will allow us to bring production of additional product lines to North America,” said Markus Rauchhaus, Poclain North America group director.

Rauchhaus added the company has seen particular strength in construction and agriculture markets, but the expansion is also being driven by capturing market share and expanding into additional end markets.

Poclain currently has 250 employees, including temporary workers, and plans to add 30 additional employees over the next three years.

The company has been located in the GrandView Business Park since 2001 and first established operations in Racine in 1992.
