West Wisconsin Ave. building sold to MMAC affiliate

Property located across street from Shops of Grand Avenue

Redo One LLC, an affiliate of the Milwaukee Development Corp. and the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, bought the building at 200-208 W. Wisconsin Ave. in downtown Milwaukee for $1.9 million from 200 Wisconsin LLC, according to state records.

The property, located across the street from the Shops of Grand Avenue, is assessed by the city of Milwaukee for $1.2 million.

The two-story, 20,450-square-foot building, on the corner of North 2nd Street and West Wisconsin Avenue, is partially occupied by Kiku Japanese restaurant.

Members of the Milwaukee Development Corp. could not immediately be reached for comment. The group is also affiliated with WAM DC, a group of business and civic leaders working to revitalize West Wisconsin Avenue.

Milwaukee Redevelopment Corp. was founded in 1973 and re-named Milwaukee Development Corp. in 2003, when it became an affiliate of the MMAC. Milwaukee Development Corp. initially was provided private-sector leadership and financial support to revitalize downtown Milwaukee through the support of 46 leading Milwaukee businesses. The first priority of the organization was stabilizing the central retail district west of the Milwaukee River. The development focus was a $150 million venture that included the construction of the Hyatt Regency, the Henry Reuss Federal Plaza and the Grand Avenue. Today, Milwaukee Development Corp. is active in the Pettit Ice Center, 30th St. Industrial Corridor, City of Milwaukee Downtown Stakeholders, Menomonee Valley Partners, and the W. Wisconsin Avenue Task Force. Milwaukee Development Corp. is also the operating entity for the Milwaukee 7 Regional Economic Development Partnership.
