Bravo! Entrepreneur Award winners - 2007: John Goeden, Precision Color Graphics Ltd., Franklin

Published May 11, 2007

In 1992, John Goeden started Precision Color Graphics Ltd., a prepress graphics company, with a team of seven employees.

The company has grown and now has more than 50 employees at its 25,000-square-foot plant in Franklin. Under Goeden’s direction, the company has grown to more than $13 million in annual sales and has averaged a 19 percent annual growth rate.

Goeden takes care of his employees. He pays for his employees to receive further technical and managerial education. He matches 25 cents for every dollar an employee contributes to their 401(k).

“When gas prices shot up, John gave all the employees gas money to help them offset the rising prices,” said Barb Czerwinski, controller at the company.

The employees respond at work by striving to provide the best quality and superior customer service, Czerwinski said.

“This has been achieved by maintaining a fun working environment with the most knowledgeable staff and latest technologies,” Czerwinski said.

Precision uses electronic prepress as its operational cornerstone and offers a diverse range of services for its customers.

The company was named a Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce Future 50 Company in 1995, 1996 and 1997 and received the Waukesha County Chamber of Commerce Top 10 Small Business Award in 1998 and 1999.

Goeden doesn’t limit his generosity to his employees. He contributes to organizations and charities throughout his community, including Make-A-Wish, the MACC Fund, the Ronald McDonald House and the Milwaukee Public Museum.

“He is most proud of his 23-year monthly sponsorship of numerous children through Save the Children and of the 14 children he has helped through Make-A-Wish,” Czerwinski said.
