The owners of the Dodge City dealership at 4640 S. 27th St. in Milwaukee say they will focus efforts on the dealership's Suburan franchise and will change the name of the dealership to Subaru City.
The change is being made because under Chrysler LLC’s bankruptcy reorganization plan the company will sever ties with Dodge City. The dealership will no longer sell new Dodge vehicles, as of June 9, but it will keep its Dodge body shop open and will continue to provide service to Dodge vehicles.
“We want people to know we are committed to the business of selling and servicing cars, including Chrysler products,” said Mike Schlossmann, vice president and co-owner of the dealership. “For now, we want to take care of our customers, build up our Subaru franchise and look for other franchises down the road.”
The dealership, which currently employs 68 people, will lay off eight workers and transfer four of its technicians to Dodge City-Chrysler-Jeep in Brookfield.
In addition to Subaru City in Milwaukee, and Dodge City-Chrysler-Jeep in Brookfield, the Schlossmann family also owns Honda City in Greenfield.
