The first hearing will be held Wednesday, April 8, at 6 p.m. at the Milwaukee Department of Public Works Office, 3815 N. 35th St. The second hearing will be held on April 22 at a time and location yet to be determined.
In addition, written comments can be submitted to emprel@milwaukee.gov or by regular mail to the Department of Employee Relations, 706 City Hall, 200 E. Wells St., Milwaukee, WI 53202.
In an e-mail today, Steve Baas, director of governmental affairs for the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC), suggested business leaders review the draft rules and provide feedback to the city. The MMAC has filed a lawsuit to stop the mandate.
"While MMAC remains optimistic that our legal challenge to the Sick Leave Mandate will eventually be successful, I would encourage you to review these draft rules closely and take advantage of these opportunities to share your input and concerns with the City. The Equal Rights Commission needs to have a thorough understanding of the real world impacts of these regulations on your business before they finalize these rules," Baas said.
Baas said comments also can be shared at sbaas@mmac.org.
