Southwest Airlines will begin flying passengers to and from Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport Sunday, and the company is making its debut in the market with several discounted airfares and festivities.
"We are looking forward to providing the people of Wisconsin the famous Southwest Airlines low fares and customer service, along with the well-known hotel, attraction and ground transportation discounts offered through Southwest Airlines Vacations (SWAV)," said Rich Basen, vice president and general manager of Southwest Airlines Vacations. "The Mark Travel Corp. has been operating SWAV, on behalf of Southwest Airlines for over 20-years. Now, with the addition of SWA to the market, our travel packages really become a convenient and seamless experience for our customers."
Sunday's festivities will feature a customer and employee celebration, including snacks, games and prizes. The party then will move to McKinley Park & Marina, where SWA will host a tailgate party to observe the game between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings.
"This is an exciting time for the people of Milwaukee and fans of SWAV," Basen said. "For over 20 years we have built a proven track record of bringing affordable and memorable dream vacations to travelers, and now with the additional of SWA to Milwaukee, this is just one more added convenience we look forward to delivering our customers."
