Maria Monreal-Cameron, president and chief executive officer of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Wisconsin (HCCW), has been named the inaugural Region 4 Chamber Executive of the Year by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC)
The new award is given to an executive who has "shown tremendous leadership and exceptional management skills in operating and directing a chamber."
Meanwhile, for the 13th consecutive year, the HCCW has been selected the Region 4 Large Chamber of the Year by the USHCC.
The 31 USHCC Region 4 Hispanic Chambers include those in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. Six separate regions comprise the USHCC structure.
"The HCCW never tires and is as proud and thrilled as the first year (1996) to be notified that the HCCW is the best among its regional peers. Our accomplishment is based on basic fundamental principals - dedication, discipline and determination as we continue to champion and to advance the upward mobility of Hispanics in business, education and employment," Monreal-Cameron said. "A committed HCCW board and diligent staff join me in accepting this honor as a tribute to the confidence and support of our active membership, community, corporate citizenry and elected officials. It is unwavering support from 'our familia' that allows the award-winning HCCW to shine brightly not only in Milwaukee but also among our regional and national counterparts."
The winners of the HCCW regional awards are in contention for the National Awards to be announced at the USHCC 29th annual Gala Awards Banquet scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 27, in Sacramento, Calif. The Awards Gala is the culmination of a four-day national convention & business expo.
The HCCW advocates and promotes the business development and interests of Hispanic and other small businesses through education, advocacy and networking in Wisconsin.
