Future 50 breakout sessions will provide operational insights

Attendees of the Future 50 Awards Luncheon this year also are invited to attend interactive breakout sessions immediately after the event to learn more about the successful operational strategies of some of Milwaukee's fastest-growing companies.
The Future 50 will be presented by the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC) and its Council of Small Business Executives (COSBE) on Thursday, Sept. 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Italian Community Center in Milwaukee.
The keynote speaker at this year's Future 50 luncheon will be Debra Usinger, director of retail operations/corporate services for Milwaukee-based Fred Usinger Inc.
Immediately after the luncheon, attendees are invited to attend concurrent sessions geared toward the needs and challenges of fast-growing small businesses.
The sessions will be as follows:
1:45 to 2:30 p.m.
Session 1
"Growing When the Economy is Not"
This session will address important business considerations for an economic downturn, including how to keep your budget in check and how to leverage marketing to stay ahead of your competition. The speakers will be Frank Cumberbatch, Trinidad Group; John Lauber, LauberCFOs; and Mary Scheibel, Scheibel Halaska Inc. The session will be moderated by Tom Precia, Integrated Risk Solutions Inc.
Session 2
"Growing Pains - Making the Critical Business Decisions"
This session will cover a wide variety of strategy questions for a growing company, such as when to hire a CFO, if you should launch a physical expansion, and the legal implications that come with growth. The speakers will be John Kielich, Kolb+Co.; Tom Myers, Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren S.C.; and Karen Vernal, Vernal Management Consultants LLC. The moderator will be Gary Zimmerman, Creative Business Interiors Inc.
2:45 to 3:30 p.m.
Session 3
"Lessons from the Trenches: A Panel Discussion with Future 50 Master Mettle Winners"
This session will include a case history from each company with personal accounts of how they achieved high growth targets, the challenges they faced and how they overcame them. The speakers will be Mike Malatesta, Advanced Waste Services Inc.; Jerry Jendusa, Emteq Inc.; and Tina Chang, SysLogic Inc. The moderator will be Steve Jagler, executive editor of Small Business Times.
Session 4
"Financing Your Future Growth"
The session will explore various funding resources - both traditional and alternative - and how to position your company well for investment. The speakers will be Paul Sweeney, P S Capital Partners LLC; Richard Kranitz, Kranitz & Philipp Law Offices; and Dave Werner, Park Bank. The moderator will be Wayne Staats, Granville Business Development Center.
