Local stock index falls to 52-week low

Echoing the decline of the broader stock market, the BizTimes Stock Index plummeted 3.45 points to close at a new 52-week low of 135.62 Wednesday, and local stocks showed few signs of revival in early morning trading today. The largest local decliners this morning were Bucyrus International Inc. (down $2.90 to $62.85) and Joy Global Inc. (down $1.46 to $69.89). The largest local advancers this morning were Kohl's Corp. (up $1.38 to $42.49) and Rockwell Automation Inc. (up 70 cents to $43.02). The BizTimes Stock Index was created by Small Business Times and is monitored by North Shore Bank.
