Take Care Health Systems, one of the largest managers of convenient care clinics and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Walgreens, has expanded into three more Wisconsin markets.
The new clinics are located in Walgreens stores at 2301 S. Oneida St. in Ashwaubenon; 2931 S. Fish Hatchery Road in Fitchburg; and 500 S. Commercial St. in Neenah.
The clinics are walk-in, professional health care centers open seven days a week with extended evening and weekend hours. With the openings, Take Care Health Systems now has 13 clinics in the state, including 10 in the Milwaukee area.
Up to six additional clinics are planned in the state later this year.
"Take Care Health Clinics have been incredibly well-received in Milwaukee - our first Wisconsin market - since opening in March 2007," said Peter Miller, Take Care Health Systems' president and chief executive officer. "Nationwide, Take Care Health Providers have offered high-quality, affordable and convenient health care to over half a million patients, with exceedingly high patient satisfaction ratings. We believe that residents of Green Bay, Madison and Oshkosh/Fox Valley will also find value in our patient-first model of care."
Take Care Health Clinics in Wisconsin are staffed by board-certified family nurse practitioners who treat patients 18 months and older for common illnesses such as strep throat, ear and sinus infections, pink eye and poison ivy, and are licensed to write prescriptions that can be filled at the patient's pharmacy of choice.
Take Care Nurse Practitioners also provide school, sports and camp physicals and offer vaccinations for flu, hepatitis B, meningitis and tetanus.
Clinics have two patient examination rooms, exam tables, sinks, patient registration kiosks and electronic medical record technology for visit documentation.
The new clinics are open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Take Care Health Systems has partnered with national insurance plans including Aetna, ChoiceCare, CIGNA, Coventry, Great West Healthcare, Humana, Multiplan/PHCS and UnitedHealthcare, local insurers Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and Trilogy Health Insurance, and traditional Medicare and Medicaid to provide covered services to patients.
If insured by one of those plans, patients pay their regular co-pay or coinsurance amount. For the uninsured or cash payers, prices average $59 to $74.
"Experienced nurse practitioners understand their local communities and are committed to providing an unparalleled patient experience at Take Care Health Clinics," said Lynn Scarbrough, Regional Nurse Practitioner for Take Care Health's Central Region, including the Wisconsin markets. "Take Care Health Clinics fill a niche in the communities we serve and are an important part of the solution to the current health care crisis. We are delighted to bring the people of Wisconsin more access to care."
