State awards grant for Glendale condo development

Gov. Jim Doyle announced today that Canterbury Court LLC will receive a $400,000 brownfield cleanup grant of to help redevelop a formerly underutilized and blighted property. The developer will build 58 condominium units on a 7.5-acre site in Glendale that was formerly used by industry. The grant will be used for the building demolition activities and environmental remediation. Total investment in the project is $11.6 million.
"The cleanup and safe reuse of brownfield properties is about more than just renewing damaged or vacant land, it also helps spur additional reinvestment over the long haul,' Doyle said. "I'm pleased to provide this grant to Canterbury Court, which will help remediate a site that will eventually provide additional housing for the community."
