Dr. Robert Wells, interim medical director for the department of radiology for Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, and two other pediatric radiologists have left the hospital to work full-time at Pediatric Diagnostic Imaging (PDI).
Wells established PDI in 2005, while at Children's, and PDI now includes two stand-alone, outpatient pediatric diagnostic imaging centers in Milwaukee and Franklin. Joining him in the PDI practice are Drs. Brian Lundeen and Seng Ong.
"My partners and I enjoyed a long, professionally satisfying affiliation with Children's, going back 24 years, in my case," Wells said. "But our PDI practice has been growing rapidly, especially since we opened our Franklin facility, so it was time to devote our full-time attention to PDI."
The Milwaukee PDI clinic, at 8522 W. Capitol Drive, opened in 2005. The Franklin clinic, located in the OneSource Medical Center at 10500 W. Loomis Road, opened in 2007.
In addition to the three pediatric radiologists, the clinics employ 30 other professionals, including radiology technologists, pediatric nurses and support staff. Last year, the two centers performed approximately 12,000 imaging examinations.
"PDI is an exciting opportunity for my partners and me," Wells said. "We designed the facilities, selected the equipment, assembled an excellent team of technologists and created clinics that provide personal, patient-centered care. We're able to spend more time with the parents and children who come to our practice so we can better address their concerns. Diagnostic imaging is a complicated process. Multiple steps influence the medical outcome for the patient and the quality of their experience. We're now able to manage all those steps to ensure excellence at each level."
