Menomonee Falls-based Kohl's Corp. plans to build a 105,770-square-foot building for a photo studio on Milwaukee's far northwest side.
The building will be located at 11300 W. Heather Ave., in the Towne Corporate Park of Granville, which is located southwest of North 107th Street and Brown Deer Road. The business park was developed by Milwaukee-based Towne Realty Inc. Kohl's is buying the site for the building from Towne.
The building will house the photography department for Kohl's Corp. Photographs taken there will be used for Kohl's weekly newspaper circulars and for use in the stores, on line and in direct-mail materials, according to documents filed with the City of Milwaukee. The building will have photography shooting bays, hair and makeup rooms for models, a model lounge, a digital photography lab, a carpentry shop, offices and conference rooms.
About 70 people will work at the studio full-time, and Kohl's plans to add staff there over the next several years. Between 50 and 200 models, most whom will be visiting from out-of-town, will work at the studio on a weekly basis.
A spokesperson for Kohl's could not be reached for comment.
