Wisconsin independent retailer Boston Inc. is, in effect, betting thousands of dollars that the Green Bay Packers won't win the Super Bowl.
The company announced that purchases made in its eight stores through New Year's Day 2008 will be free if the Packers win the Super Bowl on Feb. 3, 2008.
The company operates Furniture & ApplianceMart stores in De Pere, Oshkosh, Plover, Rhinelander and Wausau, and the Ashley Furniture HomeStores in Appleton, Green Bay and Plover.
Combined, the eight locations offer furniture, bedding, electronics and appliances by leading manufacturers.
Bill Fonti, president and chief executive officer of Boston Inc, said, "It's true. Purchases made this week will be free if the Packers bring the title back to Titletown on Feb. 3."
To be eligible for the cash redemption, purchases must be made by Jan. 1.
