Commerce State Bank has awarded the construction contract for its new 33,000-square-foot headquarters building to WB Corp. of West Bend.
Construction of the new bank building on Silverbrook Drive at the intersection of Highway 45 and Paradise Drive will begin immediately.
The new Commerce State Bank building will be the most visible and prominent class "A" office building in West Bend, according to Joe Fazio, chairman and chief executive officer of the bank.
"WB Corp. clearly established themselves as experts in the construction of high quality, complex office buildings, and most aggressively pursued the contract. The fact that WB Corp. is a local company is beneficial to our community as well. It is great to have such a professional local resource to partner with, and they are already taking the lead on management of the project, which is exactly what we wanted our construction partner to do."
WB Corp.'s Dan Gonwa said, "We saw the opportunity to build a signature building in the West Bend community, and we made the decision that WB Corp. was going to win the contract for Commerce State Bank's building by first demonstrating to them the professionalism, knowledge, and expertise we would bring to their project and second, that it is a benefit that we are a West Bend-based general contractor."
The three-story building is being designed by Zimmerman Architectural Studios. The bank initially intends to lease the second floor to one or more tenants.
"In addition, we have four acres of land adjacent to our site, immediately south of our building for the right neighboring business to locate," Fazio said.
A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m., at the building site.
Commerce State Bank is a state-chartered bank that opened in West Bend on Aug. 31, 2005. The commercial bank has grown to more than $175 million in assets.
