Wisconsin bio fuel companies form alliance

Several of Wisconsin's top ethanol producers have joined together to help chart the course for Wisconsin's growing bio fuel industry.
The Wisconsin Bio Industry Alliance is Wisconsin's first-ever alliance of top leaders in the industry. The group is focused on the development of bio-based renewable energy, power and products in Wisconsin.
"As the production of bio fuels, both ethanol and bio diesel, increases, we as an industry and as business communities in Wisconsin need to address the need for balance with our existing agricultural community," said Steve Christenson, general manager of Western Wisconsin Energy in Boyceville.
"The opportunities for economic development and growth for this industry sector in Wisconsin are absolutely incredible," said Alexander Samardzich of Ace Ethanol in Stanley.
"We saw the potential for this type of partnership after observing the collective power of more than 100 business, labor and education groups last year when they came together to form the Wisconsin Ethanol Coalition," said John Malchine, chief executive officer of Badger State Ethanol in Monroe.
Malchine recently served as the co-chair of Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle's Bio Based Industry Consortium. One of the recommendations of that group was to create a partnership of Wisconsin firms involved in the Bio Industry.
