WUWM-89.7, Milwaukee's National Public Radio affiliate, is expanding and changing the name of its "At 10" news interview program.

The program's name will be changed to "Lake Effect," and it will be expanded to include a second hour of content. The program will continue to be hosted by Jane Hampden and will feature analysis, conversations and commentaries.

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 5, "Lake Effect" will be broadcast from 9 to 11 a.m.

A one-hour weekend version of "Lake Effect" will air each Sunday at 9 a.m. and 10 p.m., starting Oct. 1.

"Very few radio stations have the time to comprehensively deal with important issues facing our community. 'Lake Effect' has the time to do what public radio listeners have come to expect. In this new two-hour format, our producers will have even more time to deal with the pros and cons of important issues and continue to introduce us to fascinating people," said Dave Edwards, general manager of WUWM.

Mitch Teich, executive producer of the program, said, "Our goal is to produce a program that reflects the unique character of southeastern Wisconsin – whether it means in-depth series coverage of important issues, or interviews produced on-site that provide listeners an audio window into a place they’ve never been."
