Verlo Mattress Factory Stores Inc. has moved from Whitewater to Fort Atkinson at the corner of State Highway 12 and Sherman Avenue.
The five-story facility is known locally as Fort Atkinson's "Creamery Building," as it once housed a business that built food and milk processing equipment.
The Verlo store is owned by Adel Salameh, who said, "Fort Atkinson is definitely booming. It's close to the bigger metro cities of Milwaukee, Madison and Chicago, but also offers its own small-town charm and convenience for shoppers. Our new store includes an expanded futon gallery, better displays and a very consumer-friendly retail environment. We're also showcasing more of our innovative models."
The store is managed by Fort Atkinson native Kim Fink, who said his grandfather once worked at the Creamery Building.
"There's actually a photograph posted on the Creamery Building Web site (www.creamerybuilding.com) of my grandfather," Fink said. "It's very ironic. I never thought I'd be working in the same building."
Verlo Mattress Factory Stores is the nation's largest Craftsman-Direct mattress retailer, providing specialty sleep products directly to customers.
Salameh also owns Verlo retail locations in Johnson Creek and Delafield.
