Lee Enterprises completes acquisition of Pulitzer Inc.

Newspaper publisher Lee Enterprises Inc. announced today that it has completed its $1.46 billion acquisition of Pulitzer Inc., which publishes 14 daily newspapers and more than 100-non-daily publications. Pulitzer's publications include the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and The Daily News in Rhinelander. With the acquisition of Pulitzer Inc., Davenport, Iowa-based Lee Enterprises becomes the fourth-largest U.S. newspaper publisher. Lee's holdings include The Journal Times in Racine. Lee also owns 50 percent of Madison Newspapers Inc., which does business as Capital Newspapers and publishes the Wisconsin State Journal and The Capital Times in Madison. MNI also publishes the Daily Citizen in Beaver Dam, the Baraboo News Republic, the Portage Daily Register and the Shawano Leader, as well as other publications in Wisconsin.
