The Paranet Group presents Value Streams & Metrics - A 2 Day Workshop
July 25, 2007 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
How Do You Select Your Lean Projects? When you began your Lean journey, how did you choose what to do first? If you’re like most companies, your “Lean Champion” or other manager picked a department or work area to 5-S, so everyone could get involved and see the benefits of Lean. Maybe you selected the messiest department or the one with the supervisor who would most likely cooperate with this new Lean thing. After you were done, how much did that 5-S improve your bottom line for the year? After you ran 5-S projects in a number of areas, what did you do to reduce wasted time and energy in the value stream? Were you able to ship product sooner? Did you lower overhead costs? Was scrap and rework eliminated? More important, did you Lean initiative begin to stagnate? How would you like to focus on two of the best ways to decide what to work on with your Lean tools? Value Stream Mapping and Visual Metrics You have limited resources and finite ability to absorb change. Therefore, you should only work on projects that are generated by one of the three following methods: 1. Strategic Plan – Defines new markets, new products, new production methods, etc. 2. Value Stream Map – Specifies changes in processing to shorten time to market and increase throughput. 3. Visual Metrics – Shows team members exactly what is unsatisfactory in achieving standardized work, quality levels, and customer service. Paranet Presents a Two-Day Workshop Joe Terranova, nationally known Lean consultant, will help you understand why the above statements are true and will show you how to use Value Stream Mapping and Visual Metric analysis to design improvement projects.
Held at SPI Lighting, 10400 N. Enterprise Dr., Mequon. $99 for Paranet Group members, $199 non-members. For information, call 262-796-2560 or visit www.paranetgroup.com.
