The event will take place at 11:30 a.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union, 1442 W. Wisconsin Ave. Werner’s presentation will be open to the public.
“We’re delighted to have Mr. Werner speak at this year’s Business Leaders Forum,” said Mark Eppli, interim Keyes Dean of Business Administration at Marquette. “His success in the sports and entertainment industry is highly commendable, and I’m certain our students will learn a lot from him.”
Werner has been chairman of the Boston Red Sox for 11 seasons and chairman of the Liverpool Football Club of the English Premier League since 2010. During his tenure with the Red Sox, the club has enjoyed unprecedented success, having won 1,000 games, including two World Series titles.
Werner also has a storied career in television. He and his partner, Marcy Carsey, helped create such popular series as The Cosby Show, Roseanne and That ’70s Show, among others. He is a member of the Television Academy Hall of Fame and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Producers Guild of America. A resident of Los Angeles, Werner has served on the White House Fellows Commission and currently serves on the Crossroads School Board, the Board for After School All Stars, and the Ron Brown Scholar Program Board.
Established in 1999, the Business Leaders Forum is a speaker series sponsored by Marquette University’s College of Business Administration. The forum provides a setting for nationally recognized business leaders to engage in discussions and interact with students, faculty and local business leaders. The program enables Marquette to build practical knowledge into its rigorous business curriculum, exploring current trends, issues and practices in business.
The Kathleen and Frank Thometz Foundation has made the Business Leaders Forum speaker series possible through a special endowment.
The cost of the luncheon is $40 per person. Corporate tables of eight are available and start at $400.
