Wisconsin employers earn Well Workplace Awards

The Wellness Council of America (WELCOA), with its local affiliate, the Wellness Council of Wisconsin, has presented the 2013 Well Workplace Awards in the state of Wisconsin.

The Wellness Council of Wisconsin announced a record number of new award winners this year, including Miller Electric Mfg. Co., Appleton, which achieved its first gold award.

Repeat gold award winners include Dean Health Plan, Madison; Froedtert Health, Milwaukee; Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin Inc., Milwaukee; Joy Global Inc., Milwaukee; MGIC, Milwaukee; Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee; Physicians Plus Insurance, Madison; Robert W. Baird & Co. Inc., Milwaukee; and We Energies, Milwaukee.

In addition, companies receiving the distinguished platinum Well Workplace Award were J.J. Keller & Associates Inc., Neenah, and SECURA Insurance Companies, Appleton.

The Well Workplace Award designation is awarded to employers from around the nation that have implemented corporate health initiatives to improve the lives of their employees.

The Well Workplace Awards initiative is driven by a rigorous set of criteria outlined in WELCOA's seven benchmarks to a results-oriented Well Workplace.

David Hunnicutt, president of the Wellness Council of America, said, "In a time when the health of our nation's workers is not what it should be and health care costs consistently reflect this trend, the Well Workplace initative provides employers with a powerful approach to stemming the tide of increasing costs and systematically working toward improving the health and well-being of their most valuable asset- their employees."

According to Wellness Council of Wisconsin executive director Jessica Raddemann, "These employers worked hard to successfully meet the rigorous standards set by the Well Workplace process. It is our pleasure to recognize them as the newest Wisconsin employers to achieve Well Workplace status."
