State added 4,500 private sector jobs in December

  
Wisconsin added 4,500 private sector jobs in December and the state’s unemployment rate held steady at 6.6 percent, on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to data released today by the state Department of Workforce Development.


The state added 4,900 construction jobs in December and 3,400 leisure and hospitality jobs, on a seasonally adjusted basis.

The state lost 3,200 government jobs in December, on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the report. Therefore, the state had a total job gain of 1,300 for the month, on a seasonally adjusted basis.

For all of 2012 the state gained 9,700 private sector jobs, and lost 600 government jobs, for a total job gain of 9,100, on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the report.
