The ranking is based on performance of U.S. depository institutions with assets between $1 billion and $10 billion as of Dec. 31, 2011, and was featured in the May issue of the ABA Banking Journal.
The top 25 performers had an average return on average equity four times higher than that of all mid-size institutions.
First Business Financial Services, Inc. was the only bank in Wisconsin, Illinois or Minnesota to make the list of top performers.
"First Business had an outstanding year, in fact, the single best year in our company's 220year history," said Madsion-based First Business Financial Services president and chief executive officer Corey Chambas. "We succeed when our clients succeed. Being ranked as one of the top performers in the nation is an indicator of our success, and also an indicator of the quality of clients who have chosen to partner with First Business."
First Business Financial Services is the parent company of First Business Bank-Madison and First Business Bank-Milwaukee.
