Not allowing silica sand mining within 10 feet of groundwater could be part of new regulations Dunn County officials are considering adopting once a mining moratorium expires this summer.
County staff also are considering such recommendations as setting hours when mining is allowed and establishing a 50-foot setback from property lines to help regulate sand mining operations.
The county has been studying sand mining impacts since the County Board approved a six-month mining moratorium in January.
