MENOMONIE - Texas sand mining firm seeks rail loading site in rural Dunn County

Vista Sand of Granbury, Texas, wants to install a railroad spur for loading sand north of U.S. 12 between 330th Street (Ford Road) and Highway K, according to town Chairman Frank Bammert. The site is between Menomonie and the village of Knapp.

The company has options on about 150 to 160 acres owned by Lynn Stewart, Frederick Larson and James Galoff.

Vista Sand, which also has options on land to potentially mine near Downing, would truck sand to the rail spur site, load it onto rail cars and ship it to Texas for processing, Bammert said.
