SHEBOYGAN - Piggly Wiggly Midwest facing labor lawsuit

The National Labor Relations Board has asked a U.S. District Court judge in Milwaukee to restore wage and benefit cuts for union employees at a Piggly Wiggly store on Sheboygan's south side. NLRB officials alleged in a federal court filing Tuesday the store's owner, Sheboygan-based Piggly Wiggly Midwest, violated federal labor laws and wasn't bargaining in good faith in September when it reduced hours, wages and benefits for 19 of its union employees shortly after the union's labor deal expired. The employees are members of the United Food & Commercial Workers Local 1473, which represents about 100 employees at the company's store at 3124 South Business Drive. NLRB officials are asking the court to issue an injunction restoring those cuts immediately.
