SHEBOYGAN - American Orthodontics to buy former Thomas Products factory

By Daniel Burkwald

Sheboygan-based American Orthodontics has struck a deal to purchase the former Thomas Products factory on the city's south side, where the manufacturer will relocate and expand, company officials said Monday. The deal will allow American Orthodontics to consolidate its existing 100,000-square-foot operation — now spread among three buildings on Sheboygan's west side — into a single location at the 250,000-square-foot former Thomas plant at 3524 Washington Ave. The company, which employs more than 400 workers and is the largest private manufacturer of dental braces in the world, will remodel the facility during the next few months. A move to the new location is expected later this year.
