Milwaukee-based Dohmen Company chief executive officer Cynthia (Dohmen) LaConte announced today that the Dohmen Investment Group has acquired MedComm Solutions LLC of Emeryville, Calif.
MedComm provides evidence-based medical communications services to biopharmaceutical companies.
LaConte said additional acquisitions are planned for 2011 as part of Dohmen's strategy to join together a series of exceptional health care service companies dedicated to reducing cost, complexity and conflict within the healthcare supply system.
"Meeting the information needs of a growing number of stakeholders, including physicians, patients and payers, is becoming increasingly complex for pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies," LaConte said. "Yet the safety of the health care supply system rests on their ability to effectively communicate scientific concepts to a wide audience. MedComm has helped nearly 100 life science companies protect their brand by ensuring patient safety through professional, accurate and compliant medical communication. We are proud to be affiliated with a gold standard within the industry."
Herbert Lee, MedComm's former vice president of business development, will serve as division president.
"We have been very impressed by Dohmen's commitment to the future of healthcare and their longstanding reputation of integrity within the pharmaceutical industry. We look forward to working with our new colleagues to expand and enhance the services we provide our clients," Lee said.
This is the second acquisition this year for Dohmen. In February, it acquired PlanIt, Inc., a health care analytics company based in Germantown, Wis.
Dohmen is a fifth-generation, family-owned health care services business. Founded in 1858 as an apothecary, Dohmen has steadily expanded its reach and capabilities, meeting market needs by adapting to a continually evolving healthcare landscape.
In May, LaConte was named the BizTimes 2011 Woman Executive of the Year.
