MADISON - TIF committee approves financing for Edgewater Hotel expansion

The prospect of jobs for unemployed construction workers trumped worries about the financial health of Madison schools Wednesday night as a divided city committee gave their blessing to a $16 million tax subsidy for Brookfield-based Hammes Co.'s renovation and expansion project for the Edgewater Hotel in downtown Madison. The Hammes Co. wants to renovate and expand the existing hotel, adding a public terrace and new nine-story tower.
