The Village of Pleasant Prairie's Community Development Authority plans to build a 40,352-square-foot business incubation center to provide office, lab, research and development space for entrepreneurs and business startups in the life science, bio-medical and biotechnology fields.
The authority will own the building and it will be operated by the Kenosha Area Business Alliance (KABA).
The village is applying for a $3.5 million grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration. The village and KABA will commit $2 million to the project and the state Department of Commerce has committed $70,000 for the project. Additional funds could be provided through a tax incremental financing (TIF) district, village officials said.
The three-story facility would be built on a 1-acre site west of 39th Avenue between Springbrook Road and Highway 165 in Pleasant Prairie.
