The Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa has secured a $23.5 million loan to develop a new casino, hotel, entertainment and conference center near Bayfield, located on the shores of Lake Superior and adjacent to the Apostle Islands. The facility will include 300 slot machines, table games, a 60 seat bar and restaurant, a 50-room hotel with a swimming pool and an entertainment and conference center with a banquet capacity of 300 seats. Construction is expected to start this year with completion in about one year. The complex will create up to 110 construction jobs. The casino will replace a smaller gaming hall at the Red Cliff reservation that has operated for the past 20 to 30 years without additional facilities such as a hotel and conference center.
