Fred Luber, founder of Milwaukee-based Super Steel Products Corp. has been approved to purchase selected assets of the company out of receivership under Chapter 128 of Wisconsin law.
Luber's purchase was approved by Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Mel Flanagan. According to court documents, SS Acquisition LLC, the acquisition group Luber formed to buy assets of Super Steel, will acquire the company's facilities and equipment at 7900 W. Tower Ave., and 7100 W. Calumet Road.
Super Steel has about 250 employees, and Luber said previously that if he were allowed to purchase assets of the company, he would retain "substantially all" of its workers.
Brett Koeller, an attorney with Godfrey & Kahn that represents Luber in the matter, said he believes that the purchase will be finalized later this week.
