The U.S. stock market lost some marginal ground on thin trading in an abbreviated holiday session today after the Chicago Institute for Supply Management revised lower its December business activity index to take into account seasonal factors, only one day after issuing its initial assessment.
The December index was revised to 58.7 from Wednesday's reported 60.0.
The largest local decliners in the BizTimes Stock Index this morning were A.O. Smith Corp. (down 58 cents to $43.76) and Johnson Controls Inc. (down 51 cents to $27.41). The largest local gainers this morning were Badger Meter Inc. (up 23 cents to $40.65) and Strattec Security Corp. (up 20 cents to $18.69).
