Stocks soar with retail sales reports

The stock market roared back to life today, as investors were buoyed by stronger-than-expected October retail sales. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up by more than 167 points by mid-morning, inching closer to the 10,000 mark once again.

Local stocks in the BizTimes Stock Index shared in the wealth, led by Joy Global Inc. (up $2.42 to $54.40), Bucyrus International Inc. (up $2.05 to $49.92), Rockwell Automation Inc. (up $1.62 to $43.70) and Badger Meter Inc. (up $1.60 to $38.32).
