State headlines: State will seek competitive bids for next trains

The next high-speed trains that Wisconsin hopes to buy will be purchased through competitive bids, a state official said Thursday. Gov. Jim Doyle's administration has taken criticism for agreeing in July to buy two trains from the Spanish firm Patentes Talgo for $47.5 million without a competitive bid.
