Carroll University has completed the purchase of a 50,000-square-foot building on Waukesha's east side that will become the Carroll University Graduate Center.
The building at 2140 Davidson Road was a former call center for AT&T, but has been vacant for several years. The site is expected to be especially convenient to graduate students because of its proximity to Interstate 94 and its 171-space parking lot.
Carroll, which paid $2.4 million for the property, will relocate and expand graduate programs to the Davidson Road site, freeing up space on its main campus for a growing population of undergraduate students.
Initially, graduate programs in physical therapy and software engineering, and some graduate classes in education, will move to the new site. Carroll also has plans for graduate programs in business administration and physician assistant studies, both of which are awaiting accreditation.
Waukesha city officials have endorsed the project, and the Common Council approved rezoning the property in August.
The first graduate classes will move to the Davidson Road site in fall 2010, after interior renovation plans are approved and the building is renovated.
