MillerCoors LLC celebrated the opening of its new headquarters in Chicago Friday with a toast from Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley.
The new offices at 250 S. Wacker Drive will bring about 375 jobs to Chicago, including about 100 positions the company is still looking to fill. MillerCoors received more than $20 million in subsidies from the state of Illinois and city to move to Chicago.
Miller was previously based in Milwaukee, and Coors was previously located in Golden, Colo.
Daley defended the public funds used to bring MillerCoors to Chicago, saying "every city has competition" to lure businesses, and the beer company's move will help "put us on the map."
