Brewers launch promotion for fans to take Amtrak to Chicago

By Jim Butman

The Milwaukee Brewers and Amtrak today announced details of an away game trip promotion that will provide free train transportation and specially designed T-shirts to Milwaukee fans interested in traveling to Chicago for the Brewers' game against the Cubs on Thursday, September 17.

The promotion, which is called Miller Park South, is designed to give the Brewers a bit of a home field edge when traveling to take on their rivals from Illinois.

"Everyone who attends Brewers-Cubs games at Miller Park knows the excitement level that these games bring, and a part of that is due to the close proximity that allows fans from both teams to fill the ballpark," said Rick Schlesinger, executive vice president of business operations for the Brewers. "This year, we're encouraging Brewers fans to take their support on the road and help create a Miller Park South atmosphere. This is an intense rivalry, and we want to give our fans an opportunity to have some fun in showing their enthusiasm."

Beginning the morning of Friday, Feb. 20th, the day individual tickets go on sale at "We're excited to showcase Amtrak Hiawatha Trains as the easiest way to travel between two great cities," said Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari, who pointed out that ridership is growing from the nearly 750,000 passengers last year.

Full details for the promotion will be posted by Monday at www.brewers.com/millerparksouth.
