The National Governors Association (NGA) announced a partnership between General Motors Corp. and the State of Wisconsin to help build additional E-85 ethanol pumps in the state.
Wisconsin currently has about 100 stations across the state with pumps that provide E-85, a renewable fuel made in Wisconsin that contains 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent regular petroleum.
"It's great that both GM and the NGA are committed to growing Wisconsin's biofuel industry," said Joshua Morby, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Bio Industry Alliance (WBIA). "This partnership will help let consumers in every corner of Wisconsin have the opportunity to fill up their vehicles on E-85."
General Motors and the NGA selected 10 states with which to partner. Each state will establish an E-85 task force that includes a team of state officials, retailers and automobile manufacturers to help identify target areas for E-85 refueling stations. The task force also will identify potential funding sources to support pump installation or conversion and assist with implementing the resulting recommendations.
"Providing consumers with more E-85 will help grow Wisconsin's economy, end our dependence on foreign oil, and improve our environment," Morby said.
