The Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin has selected the winners of its 2008 Torch Awards for Business Ethics and Integrity.
The six winners were selected by an independent panel of nine business ethics experts and announced at a ceremony in Milwaukee on Wednesday.
The winners were chosen based on submissions that demonstrated excellence in ethical practices, service excellence, reputation, honest advertising, peer recognition, management practices and employee training in ethical behavior.
The winners are:
Small Charity (1 to 50 employees) - The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Southeast Wisconsin, Wauwatosa. Wendy Hanisch is the executive director of the organization.
Large Charity (51 or more employees) - Children's Hospital and Health System, Milwaukee. Jon Vice is president and chief executive officer of the organization.
Category I (1 to 5 employees) - Action Organizing Services, Milwaukee. Brenden McDaniel is president of the company.
Category II (6 to 50 employees) - Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling of Fox Valley, Appleton. Matt and Renee Everett are the owners of the company.
Category III (51 to 500 employees) - State Collection Service, Madison. Tom Haag is president of the company.
Category IV (501 or more employees) –Rockwell Automation Inc., Milwaukee. Keith Nosbusch is president and CEO of the company.
In addition, runner-up awards or honorable mentions were given to Pop-A-Lock of Milwaukee, Tucker Family Construction, Appleton Group Wealth Management, Badger Basement Systems, PyraMax Bank, Total Administrative Services Corp., WeatherTight Corp., Alliant Energy and American Family Insurance.
"These companies are fine examples of how ethical companies in Wisconsin should behave," said Randall Hoth, president and CEO of of the Wisconsin BBB. "Their business practices make Wisconsin a better place to do business, and I applaud their commitment to ethics."
