Nominations for the 10 annual Milwaukee Awards for Neighborhood Development Innovation (MANDI) will be accepted through Nov. 7.
People, organizations and projects throughout Milwaukee County are eligible for nomination. MANDI honors organizations and individuals that are bringing life and hope back to people and neighborhoods. Nominations will be accepted in the following categories:
Navigator Award
Recognizes model leadership in neighborhood development by an individual who is a staff, board member or volunteer for a public or private community development entity.
State Farm Insurance Building Blocks Award
Recognizes the outstanding real estate development project that contributes to the rebuilding of Milwaukee's neighborhoods.
Small Project: 24 or fewer residential units and/or less than 30,000 square feet of commercial or facilities space
Large Project: 25 or more residential units and/or 30,000 square feet or more of commercial or facilities space
Harris Bank Cornerstone Award
Recognizes a neighborhood development organization for innovation and perseverance
Trailblazer Award
Recognizes a program or a project that represents a new approach to an old problem
Accomplishments within Milwaukee County that demonstrate impact for low and moderate-income Milwaukee County residents and/or neighborhoods are eligible.
Winners, selected by an independent committee, will be announced at a ceremony on March 19, 2009.
MANDI is coordinated by Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), the nation's leading community development support organization.
