Milwaukee-area business leaders, politicians and other newsmakers will be the guests for the "On the Issues with Mike Gousha" series at Marquette University Law School this fall.
Gousha, an award-winning broadcast journalist, is a distinguished fellow in law and public policy at Marquette University Law School.
"On the Issues" events already scheduled include:
- Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker will join Gousha on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 12:15 p.m., to discuss the future of public transportation in Milwaukee, including their conflicting views on how to spend $91 million in federal money to meet the city's transportation needs.
- Cameron Davis, president and chief executive officer of the Alliance for the Great Lakes, will be Gousha's guest Wednesday, Sept. 10, from noon to 1 p.m. Davis, a lawyer, will discuss the future of the region's most precious resource, the Great Lakes, and the challenges posed by invasive species, pollution and falling lake levels.
- Wisconsin Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus and Wisconsin Democratic Party Chairman Joe Wineke will speak Thursday, Sept. 18, at 12:15 p.m. In preparation for the November elections, Priebus and Wineke will discuss Wisconsin's role in the outcome of the presidential race, as well as preview the battle for control of the state legislature.
- Milwaukee County Judge Maxine White will speak Thursday, Sept. 25, at 12:15 p.m. White is the presiding judge of the Milwaukee County Circuit Court Civil Division and the president of the Wisconsin Association of African-American Lawyers. She will discuss her career, the community and the pursuit of justice.
- Yale Law School professor Dan Kahan and Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm will speak Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. Kahan and Chisholm will offer their perspectives on improving relations between law enforcement officials and residents in high crime neighborhoods.
- Manpower Inc. chairman and chief executive officer Jeff Joerres will visit the Law School Wednesday, Oct. 15, at noon. Joerres will offer his unique perspective on the dynamic global economy and the region's evolving economy.
