Milwaukee County will bring back its U-Pass transit program for college students this fall.
"For just $41 per semester, students can get unlimited access to the many routes offered by the Milwaukee County Transit System," said County Supervisor Christopher Larson, a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee graduate who began riding the bus frequently as a student. "Not only does riding the bus save gas, it also prevents costly parking tickets."
In addition to UWM, the U-Pass program is available to students attending Marquette University, the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD) and Bryant & Stratton College.
"Last year, 63 percentof UWM students used U-Pass," Larson said. "We hope that even more students from all participating institutions take advantage of this great program as we head into the new school year."
Larson will co-host an "Alternative Transportation Event" and U-Pass kickoff for the 2008-2009 school year, featuring Bango, the Milwaukee Bucks' mascot, on Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at UWM's Spaights Plaza.
