By Jim Butman

AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of Atlanta-based AirTran Holdings Inc., will continue to expand its presence in the Milwaukee market by launching another nonstop seasonal flight between General Mitchell International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) recently awarded AirTran Airways the right to add one new daily roundtrip flight from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, beginning May 3.

The airline has added the roundtrip flight to Milwaukee as part of its growth strategy for 2008. The flights will be operated with the airline's Boeing 717 aircraft.

"AirTran Airways is proud to be one of only two airlines selected by the U.S. Department of Transportation to begin new flights from Reagan National," said Kevin Healy, senior vice president of marketing and planning for AirTran Airways. "Our new service will mean lower fares for thousands of passengers flying to and from Washington, D.C. We pride ourselves on offering our customers convenient schedules with amenities including assigned seating, Business class seating on every flight and complimentary XM Satellite Radio at every seat."

Special introductory fares for the new flight will be offered.
