TechSquad to provide online support for dairy farmers

By Jim Butman

TechSquad, a Waukesha-based provider of enterprise level, remote help desk solutions, has formed a partnership with the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin (PDPW) to help Wisconsin's dairy farmers benefit from technology.

Many dairy farmers use software to track their herd's health and family lineage, similar to the way hospitals track medical records. However, many farmers have been unable to take advantage of some of the internet's best features and lack support for IT issues when they occur. The remote location of large farms also has limited many farmers who believed the only way to obtain internet access was through a dial-up service.

TechSquad will be providing around-the-clock remote computer monitoring and help desk support for the PDPW.

Through the use of "remote control" software installed on the users' computers, TechSquad is able to fix most IT problems within 15 minutes and without making an in-person service call.

The PDPW is endorsing the use of TechSquad services to its 1,600 farmer members. TechSquad will also help the farmers make use of high-speed connection services using point-to-point wireless broadband, which eliminates the need for the much slower dial-up service.

"The farming industry is an important part of Wisconsin's economy," states Chris Wiser, chief executive officer of TechSquad, which recently opened a new sales office in Manitowoc. "This partnership with PDPW will allow us to help Wisconsin dairy producers become more efficient and take advantage of the information technology available today."
