Milwaukee to invest $5 million in 'Stronger Neighborhoods'


Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett will sign legislation this afternoon to invest $5 million in four Stronger Neighborhoods projects.
The neighborhoods to receive the investments will be Mitchell Street, Cesar Chavez Drive, the 30th Street Industrial Corridor and Kinnickinnic Avenue.
The mayor will sign the ordinance today during at a ceremony at 3:15 p.m. in front of Goldmann's Department Store, 930 W. Historic Mitchell St. Goldmann's is closing today and will redeveloped into a new retail center.
Barrett said he will discuss the future of Mitchell Street at the ceremony.
"A stronger Milwaukee means stronger neighborhoods," Barrett said. "My Stronger Neighborhoods agenda has meant greater use of all available economic development tools to leverage jobs, new businesses, housing options and additional private investment in areas throughout the City of Milwaukee."
