Brewers promote Quinn

By Jim Butman

Bob Quinn, a Milwaukee Brewers executive since 2003, is being promoted to the post of executive vice president of finance and administration.

The announcement was made today by Brewers chairman and principal owner Mark Attanasio.

Quinn, 39, is in his fifth season with the Brewers. A fourth-generation baseball executive, Quinn most recently served as the club's senior vice president and chief financial officer. In his role, Quinn oversees the financial operations of the club as well as human resources, information systems, Miller Park operations and Arizona spring training operations.

"In my three seasons with the Brewers, I have come to know our senior management team as one of the very best in professional sports," Attanasio said. "Bob is an extremely talented and dedicated individual. Our team's success may start on the field, but it is through the efforts of Bob and our other leaders that we are able to field a best-in-class organization from top to bottom."

Quinn and executive vice president of business operations Rick Schlesinger are at the helm of the Brewers' business management team. They both report directly to Attanasio.

Under their leadership, attendance at Miller Park has increased in each of the last four seasons, going from 1.7 million in 2003 to 2.3 million in 2006, up 37 percent. This year, the team has already surpassed 2.4 million tickets sold, which ranks as the second-best attendance in team history.

In addition, Miller Park has been ranked by both media and fans as one of the top experiences in Major League Baseball as evidenced by polls conducted by SI.com in 2005 (ranked No. 1 by media) and 2006 (ranked No. 4 by fans).

Quinn comes from a long line of Major League front office executives. His father, Robert E. Quinn, has worked in professional baseball for more than 40 years and was the general manager for the San Francisco Giants, New York Yankees and Cincinnati Reds (1990 World Champions). Quinn's grandfather, John Quinn, who will be inducted into the Miller Park Walk of Fame this summer, was the general manager of the Boston and Milwaukee Braves for 23 seasons and the Philadelphia Phillies for 13 years. Quinn's great grandfather, J.A. Quinn, was the general manager for four Major League clubs, including the St. Louis Browns, Brooklyn Dodgers, Boston Red Sox and Boston Braves, and served as the first curator of the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y.
